Split Rawness

The sprawling floor area of this unit, with a deep plan and no windows, made for a bunker like space. This was embraced and even augmented by the design of the outlet, through a rather spartan aesthetic, combining subway tiles, polished concrete, and unfinished wood tones. The raw, industrial textures are contained within the clean-lined containers of the space and its fixtures and fittings.

The large expanses of floor and wall are broken up through changes in materials, which also help delineate the seating area into sections without the use of partitions. The resulting open plan makes for a bustling atmosphere during lunch hour, filled with people from the surrounding office towers, in full view from the the narrow shop frontage.
